In an inspiring display of wildlife conservation, the KWS Mara Vet team recently treated a lion named Lorkulup in the Mara Conservancy. Lorkulup, who suffered a suspected snake bite two weeks ago, received a second round of care. The lion exhibited a swollen upper lip and a mildly infected lower lip with sloughed off tissue. The team performed thorough wound cleaning and administered antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication.
Despite his injuries, Lorkulup remains in good physical condition. The KWS team will continue to monitor his recovery closely. This commitment to animal welfare underscores the dedication of Kenya’s wildlife authorities to the protection and care of their iconic fauna. Travelers can witness such efforts firsthand, adding a profound dimension to their safari experience.
