Master of Camouflage

Camouflage comes in a confusing array of patterns. Many animals have developed some sort of natural comouflage by either becoming food or helping others find food. The most clever predetors have mastered this weapon to ambush their prey.

Chameleon use camouflage for both offense and defense. The new born is vulnerable; it could make an easy meal for a snake; it seeks protection immediately; their strong natural instincts guide this master of impersonation with a relatively thin, flat body and skin color that can adjust to its surroundings.Preditors often mistake it for either a leaf or an extension of a tree branch.

The rules continue when travel jarky back and forth movement once again mimics a flattering leaf, conceling it not only for prediction but also for prey. Its eyes move almost 360 degrees independently to target prey; once in range, it strikes.Camouflage is only one part of its weapon; the chameleon tongue is a concealed weapon.

Adult chameleons can reach up to 27 inches in length, and their tongues can grow one and a half inches longer than their bodies. The knob tip is coated with mucus that sticks to prey.It strikes faster than you can see in real time—about thirty thousandths of a second.
